A Heathen Xmas, Day 12: The Spring Collection

Listening to DJ Mike B's mixtape reminded me of Anotha Level. Oh I loved Anotha Level. They were kinda supposed to be Ice Cube's Pharcyde. They didn't achieve the critical success Pharcyde did but their debut (and only?) album (1994) had tracks that are still amazing to this day. One of the mc's in the group was named Bambino, that alone makes Anotha Level classic to me, and they all wore preppy polo shirts. They even had a polo style logo. They sounded perfect over smooth g-funk beats. Not to mention Lay Law was involved in this (Lawhouse Productions, anyone?), that's instant approval right there. I'll always love Anotha Level. I know later on some of the dudes from the group had something called Hymalayaz I think, or something like that, never heard the songs though. No idea what any of those dudes (Lay Law included) are up to today.
